Baby Projects!

We are just 5 weeks away from Baby M's (Name TBD) due date. Diana had an ultrasound a couple weeks ago to make sure he is growing well, and we were informed that he is in the 98th percentile for size. He's on pace to be a big boy. He is also sitting straight up, but otherwise doing well.

As we wait for him to flip over, Diana and I have been completing some projects for the baby's room. Diana used her creativity to create a wall hanging for over the crib. I constructed the hanging and Diana did the painting. Good team work.

Next, I thought it would be fun to try building something for the nursery, and decided on a bookcase. As a first big wood working project, I figured a bookcase was pretty straight forward and would be good practice. I found a good design plan online, and I was off.

Overall, the process was easy enough and fun. I had to acquire a few new tools (which is always fun), but learned that you definitely need the correct tools for furniture making. In particular, various types of clamps and an screw joint jig. It took a few hours here and there over several weekends, and I just finished it this past weekend. We think it turned out great.

Merry Christmas!

Diana and I enjoyed a nice relaxing and relatively quiet Christmas and New Years. With Diana over 30 weeks pregnant, we did not feel up to traveling. One thing we enjoy about each Christmas season is putting ornaments on the tree and thinking about all the memories from the places they came from. This year we had three new additions. First is the Moose from Revelstoke. Already a year ago, that was some world class skiing that we haven't had since. I think we can get our kid on skis by age 3.

Next is Santa Claws from our trip east over the summer when we went to Maine and I ate lobster for the first time.

Last is this Native American hand made globe from our trip to Fort Collins, Colorado in October.

We are looking forward to a new year and new ornaments! Diana and the baby really enjoyed the Christmas tree.

On New Year's Eve, we went to see Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra playing the live score while the movie played on a screen above their heads. It was very good and really makes you think more about the importance of music with setting the mood of a movie. We will definitely go to see another live music movie.
