Busy August

Flowers for Diana!

August has been busy since the last update, which is why the next update is coming now... in September. For starters, Diana and I had our second anniversary! It's hard to believe 2 years have gone by so far since our wedding, and a lot has happened in those 2 years. We are excited for what the next year will bring, which will include a vacation in November to Las Vegas and Zion National Park.

One of the things that has happened in our two years is the Cassie Pup, who celebrated her second birthday. Diana surprised her with a new, and much bigger, kiddie (doggie) pool. Cassie loves the extra space. She is turning into a well behaved dog, but we are wondering how long she will have the energy of a puppy.

 During this time I was working up in Manitowoc, WI for two weeks doing sediment sampling on the river. It was a nice location right on Lake Michigan. I was able to get a couple good pictures while working those long days.

Manitowoc has a maritime museum right next to the hotel we stayed at. There is a WWII submarine that you can tour, but the museum was closed by the time we were done working each day. They used to build navy submarines here, but now use the warehouse space to build wind turbine foundations.

 I was able to take two days off since Mom and Emma were coming to visit from NY. They came in on Thursday and Emma went to work with Diana on Friday to shadow to see what physical therapy is like. Saturday we toured around Milwaukee to see the sights and went on a river boat cruise on the Milwaukee River and out onto Lake Michigan. Sunday included some rain (much needed) so we did some indoor activities and then Mom and Emma flew home early Monday morning. It was great having some visitors.

For Labor Day we went up to Harrington Beach State Park to get a relaxing weekend of camping in before the upcoming Ironman weekend. We had a great campsite with tons of room to set up our camp gear. Cassie loved being outside all the time and had fun romping in Lake Michigan. The lake was pretty rough from the wind but Cassie loved jumping over, getting pummled by, and surfing all of the waves. She definitely has no fear of water and was a very tired pup after a couple hours at the beach. We know that we take a lot of pictures of our dog.
